Labor Of Love of the Day: and Cosby Sweaters video editor KingKoltAir seriously hearts the NBA, so naturally, he made “a movie about the emotions and big-time events in the NBA. The best teams, the best players, and their biggest achievements. All the emotions, passion, and glory of the NBA captured in one hour.”

It’s long, but it’s legit — if you follow pro ball at all and have a lull in your Friday, you’ll dig the distraction.

NBA Basketball, why must your season be over? I have developed a seriously unhealthy addiction to you in 2012. I even listen to ESPN Radio on my drive to and from work when I want to take a break from my “Club Commute” playlist. I can’t watch this whole video right now, but what I have watched so far has made me miss you so much!

THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYER SINCE LEBRON JAMES, - 05.21.12 - SI Vault

“The other varsity players were out in the hallway, talking to girls by the snack stand,” says Flannigan. “The best player in the city was being the water boy for the jayvee. It’s hard to root against a kid like that. He’s on top of the world, but he’s incredibly humble.” Read More.

Song of the Evening.  Watching the Gonzaga vs. St. Mary’s game on ESPN2 and evidently this old favorite is the theme for Rivalries Week? Love it. Watching this game reminds me of three things:

  1. The thing speaks for itself. My first Gonzaga game was 1L year actually against St. Mary’s as part of my birthday week celebration festivities.  I was also an grade A torts student at that time so as we jumped in our seats all I could think in my drunken state was Res Ipsa Loquitur (am I the only person who remembers that that phrase translates to “the thing speaks for itself.”).
  2. Winter Finals Rage Blackouts. Being supremely pissed of during fall semester finals 1L, 2L, and 3L year because of the hell the basketball games would bring to our parking lot since the law school shared parking with the McCarthy Center. If you weren’t pissed off enough about having to go to the library on the weekend, you were even more mad about not having parking. I think law school finals just made people rage for any reason they could.
  3. Fearing for my life.  Ok, that might be a little extreme.  As part of my job with Gonzaga this past fall I had to go to a career fair at St. Mary’s College. While I did get to talk to a handful of brave students willing to admit (albeit quietly) an interest in their arch rival, I definitely got more students making comments and giving me dirty looks (mostly in jest) about the rivalry. I did fear, however, that when I got back to the gravel lot that I had to park in that either my car was keyed or that I would be ambushed and left for dead.
